Lantau Island, Tai O and Big Buddha

I took the ferry from Central to Mui Wo on Lantau Island.

Silvermine Bay at Mui Wo.

Cheung Sha beach, one of the best beaches in Hong Kong.

It was almost 20 degrees that day in mid January.

Tai O, a small fishing village on the southwestern tip. A charming and rural place.

Tai O got the nickname "the Venice of Hong Kong" because of the many stilt houses on the waterfront.

Drying fish along a main road.

This is my favorite "prohibited sign". You see them many places in Hong Kong, sometimes with up to 10 things "not to do" on one sign.

The Po Lin Monastery in the Ngong Ping Plateau.

The Tian Tan Buddha also known as Big Buddha.

The Buddha himself is 22 m high.

Sailing back from Mui Wo around sunset.
